But what sets those who thrive apart from those who give up is one simple thing: persistence. If you’ve been feeling stuck, frustrated, or like giving up, this episode is exactly what you need to reignite your drive. Let’s talk about how to push through those challenges, stay committed to your vision, and turn persistence into your most powerful asset.

Welcome to the Lifestyle Business Quest Podcast! I’m Travis Greenlee, and for over 25 years, I’ve helped heart-centered coaches and entrepreneurs build $250K+ lifestyle businesses while maintaining the freedom to live the lives they truly love. And today, we’re talking about *persistence*—the cornerstone of every successful coaching business.

Let’s be real for a moment: building a business is tough. There are days when you feel like you're on top of the world, and then there are days when everything feels like it's falling apart. The truth is, there’s no such thing as an overnight success. Every thriving coach you see, every business hitting six or seven figures, has been through the grind, the rejections, and the setbacks. The difference is, they didn’t quit. They *persisted*.

In today’s episode, I’m sharing my own story of persistence—how I went from the brink of failure to growing a thriving lifestyle business. I’ll also share stories from some incredible clients—Rick, Randy, and Rachel—who faced their own unique challenges and learned to harness the power of persistence. If you’re feeling like the journey is too hard, or like you’ve hit a wall, trust me—you’re not alone. By the end of this episode, you’ll understand why persistence is not only necessary but a key to unlocking the business and life you dream of.

By the end of this episode, you’ll understand why persistence is the one trait that can make or break your business. We’re going deep into how to build a mindset of persistence, how to keep going when you want to quit, and how persistence can transform the obstacles you're facing right now into the building blocks of a thriving, $250K+ lifestyle business. You’ll leave with actionable strategies to stay persistent and focused, even when the road ahead seems impossible.

I want to start by sharing my own story, because it wasn’t always smooth sailing. In 2008, everything fell apart. The financial crisis hit, and like many others, I was blindsided. My business, which had taken years to build, was crumbling. Clients were backing out, revenue was drying up, and I was faced with the terrifying reality that I could lose everything. I was overwhelmed, and for a moment, I thought about walking away entirely.

But there was this voice inside me—a persistent whisper that said, "Don’t quit. You’ve come too far to stop now." And so, I didn’t. I refused to give up. I took a step back, reevaluated my strategies, and found ways to keep moving forward, one small action at a time. I worked on my mindset every day. I started building systems and processes that would make my business more resilient, even in times of crisis.

Let me tell you, it wasn’t an immediate turnaround. There were weeks, even months, where it felt like I wasn’t making any progress. But I stayed the course. Slowly but surely, things began to change. I started gaining new clients, revenue increased, and before I knew it, my business wasn’t just surviving—it was thriving. The most powerful lesson I learned through that experience was that persistence isn't just about pushing harder—it's about adapting, staying focused on your vision, and never losing sight of your ultimate goals, no matter how hard the road becomes.

That experience shaped everything I do today. The systems I created during that tough time? They're still part of how I help clients grow their businesses now. Persistence wasn’t just a trait—it became my greatest strength. And it can be yours too.

When things get tough, it’s easy to lose sight of why you started this journey in the first place. That’s why the most important driver of persistence is understanding your "why." Why are you doing this? What’s the deeper purpose behind your business?

During my toughest times, reconnecting with my why is what kept me going. For me, it wasn’t just about making money—it was about creating a life of freedom for myself and helping others do the same. I knew that quitting wasn’t an option because my mission was bigger than any one setback.

Take a moment and think about *your* why. Why did you become a coach? What’s driving you to keep moving forward, even when the road gets bumpy? When your purpose is clear, it gives you the strength to persist. Write it down, put it somewhere you’ll see every day, and remind yourself of it often. Your why will keep you grounded, focused, and persistent, no matter what challenges you face.

Let’s talk about Rick. When Rick came to me, he had just spent the better part of a year pouring his heart and soul into his coaching business, only to be met with silence. Prospects weren’t responding, potential clients weren’t committing, and rejection was becoming a regular part of his week. He was ready to give up.

But here’s the thing—Rick had the passion, the skills, and the drive. What he lacked was a system and the persistence to keep showing up, despite the rejection. We worked together to refine his messaging, identify his ideal clients, and create a consistent outreach process. More importantly, I encouraged Rick to adopt the mindset that rejection is part of the journey, not the end of it.

Rick committed to staying persistent. He continued reaching out, refining his approach, and showing up every day—even when the results weren’t immediate. After months of persistence, things started to shift. The rejections became fewer, and before long, Rick was booking clients consistently. His business grew from zero to six figures, and now, Rick is on track for $250K+ this year. His story is a powerful reminder that persistence can turn even the hardest rejections into eventual success.

Now, let’s dive into Randy’s story. Randy is an exceptional coach, but like so many of us, he struggled with self-doubt. He constantly questioned whether he was good enough, whether his services were valuable, or whether he could really make an impact. This self-doubt held him back from taking the bold actions he needed to grow his business.

Randy’s biggest challenge was pushing through the mental barriers he had created for himself. He’d start a project, only to stop halfway because he wasn’t sure it was "good enough." He’d hesitate to put himself out there because he was afraid of being judged. This lack of persistence was stalling his business.

Together, we worked on building his confidence and overcoming the fear that was holding him back. Randy started taking small but consistent steps. He didn’t wait until he "felt ready"—he committed to showing up every day, regardless of how he felt. This daily persistence paid off. His confidence grew, his self-doubt began to shrink, and his business started to thrive. Today, Randy is serving more clients than ever, and his income is rising steadily. His persistence—especially in the face of self-doubt—was the key to unlocking his success.

Rachel’s story is a beautiful example of persistence in the face of life’s challenges. When she first started coaching, she was juggling a full-time job, raising two kids, and trying to build her business on the side. She felt like she didn’t have enough time or energy to give her coaching business what it needed to grow. But despite the overwhelming demands on her time, Rachel was *persistent*.

She didn’t have hours and hours to dedicate to her business, but she committed to showing up, even if it was just for 30 minutes each day. She focused on small, consistent actions—sending emails, making calls, creating content—every single day, no matter how hectic her schedule was. It wasn’t easy, but she didn’t quit.

Over time, those small actions added up. Rachel started gaining clients, her income grew, and eventually, she was able to leave her full-time job to coach full-time. Today, she’s built a thriving business that allows her the freedom to spend time with her family and live life on her terms. Rachel’s story shows us that persistence isn’t about having all the time in the world—it’s about staying committed, even when time is limited.

By now, you’ve seen how persistence can transform businesses and lives, but how do you build that persistence for yourself? Here are three powerful strategies:

1. Reconnect with Your Vision Daily: Every morning, remind yourself why you’re doing this. What is your deeper purpose? Write it down and keep it in front of you as a daily reminder. When you stay focused on the big picture, the setbacks won’t knock you off course.

2. Turn Obstacles into Learning Opportunities: Persistence isn’t about ignoring challenges—it’s about learning from them. Every time you face a setback, ask yourself, “What’s the lesson here?” Use every challenge as a stepping stone to grow stronger and more resilient.

3. Commit to Consistent Action, No Matter How Small: You don’t need hours of free time or perfect conditions to grow your business. Like Rachel, even 30 minutes of focused action each day can compound over time. The key is to stay consistent, even if your progress feels slow.

Remember, persistence is like building a muscle—the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets. The more you show up, even when it’s hard, the closer you get to the success you’re working toward.

So, what’s the takeaway? Persistence isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s the driving force behind every successful coaching business. It’s about pushing through rejection, overcoming self-doubt, and staying consistent even when life gets overwhelming. The stories of Rick, Randy, and Rachel show us that no matter where you are in your journey, persistence can take you to the next level.

If you’re feeling stuck or questioning whether you can keep going, remember this: success isn’t about never facing challenges. It’s about staying persistent through them. Keep showing up, keep moving forward, and trust that every step you take brings you closer to the life and business you’ve always wanted.
