I’ll be sharing my personal experiences and success stories from Drew, Dan, and Donna—coaches who’ve transformed their businesses by mastering these principles. Let’s get started!*
Welcome to The Lifestyle Business Quest Podcast, where we help heart-centered coaches build thriving, freedom-based businesses. I'm Travis Greenlee, your host and in In today’s episode, we’re diving deep into the dual power of tiny habits and the concept of What’s Important Now (WIN) as the core strategies for scaling to $250K or more. The beauty of this approach lies in its simplicity: you’re not aiming for huge breakthroughs every day; instead, you’re leveraging small, consistent actions, always guided by your focus on what matters most right now.
Today, we’re not just talking theory—we’re breaking down exactly how these principles can be applied to your business, using real-life stories from my journey and those of my clients, like Drew, Dan, and Donna, to illustrate how you can grow your coaching business without burning out.
By the end of this episode, you’ll have a clear, actionable strategy to implement tiny habits that will compound over time, while using the WIN principle to focus on the most important task in your business at any given moment. We’ll dig deep into how these two forces—tiny habits and strategic focus—are essential for long-term success, whether you're just starting out or scaling your existing business.
We’ve all heard that habits are the building blocks of success, but James Clear takes this a step further in *Atomic Habits* by showing us how these small, seemingly insignificant actions compound over time to create exponential growth. Think of it like compound interest—tiny habits may not seem like much at first, but over time, they can transform your business.
In my own life, this realization hit hard during the 2008 recession. I had a successful coaching business, but when the economy crashed, so did my business. I was forced to start over from scratch. The path forward wasn’t about making massive changes—it was about focusing on small, daily actions that would eventually compound into big results.
Here’s how I applied this: every day, I dedicated just 30 minutes to refining my systems. At first, it didn’t feel like much, but those small actions built the foundation for the Perpetual Clients System that now supports hundreds of coaches. This system didn’t come from working 16-hour days or making huge leaps; it came from a steady focus on tiny habits that I repeated consistently.
Key takeaway: Don’t underestimate the power of small, incremental changes. Whether it’s spending 15 minutes improving your lead generation process or sending one follow-up email to a prospect, those actions, compounded over time, will grow your business faster than you think.
Now let’s talk about WIN: *What’s Important Now*. One of the biggest challenges most entrepreneurs face is trying to do everything at once. We get distracted by endless tasks, new ideas, and shiny objects, which makes it nearly impossible to make real progress.
This is where WIN becomes a game-changer. The WIN principle is about asking yourself, at any given moment, “What’s the *one* thing I can do right now that will have the biggest impact on my business?”
When I rebuilt my business, I used WIN every day. Instead of getting overwhelmed by everything I *could* do, I focused on what was *most important right now*. At that time, it was all about client acquisition. My WIN was figuring out a lead-generation system that would bring in clients consistently without requiring my constant attention. I asked myself, "What’s the one habit I need to build today to get this system working?"
The result? I developed the Perpetual Clients System by focusing on one habit at a time, always driven by WIN. Every tiny habit I built—whether it was refining my outreach script or automating a follow-up process—was a response to *What’s Important Now*.
This laser focus not only saved me time but kept me moving forward without getting stuck in the weeds.
Drew, one of my clients, was a coach who was constantly overwhelmed. He spent his days jumping between social media, networking events, and client work, but nothing seemed to stick. His business was scattered, and he had no consistent flow of clients.
The first thing we did was introduce Drew to the concept of WIN. For him, *What’s Important Now* was simple: client acquisition. We broke this big goal into smaller, daily actions—tiny habits that would help him attract new clients consistently.
Here’s what Drew did: Every morning after his coffee, he dedicated 30 minutes to client outreach. The habit was simple and repeatable. It wasn’t about doing everything at once, but focusing on *one* critical task that aligned with his WIN. After just a few months, Drew had built a steady pipeline of clients, and his revenue skyrocketed. He went from sporadic income to generating over $20K a month—and he did it by sticking to small habits and focusing on what mattered most each day.
Key takeaway: You don’t need to overhaul your entire business to get results. Start with one key habit, tied to your WIN, and repeat it daily. The consistency is what drives growth.
James Clear emphasizes the power of *identity-based habits*—habits that align with the person you want to become. When you start acting like the person who runs a $250K+ coaching business, your habits will naturally align with that identity.
Dan’s story illustrates this perfectly. Dan came to me stuck in a mindset of scarcity. He was undercharging for his services and constantly doubting his value. His business reflected this mindset—he attracted low-ticket clients and struggled to grow.
We started by shifting Dan’s identity. He needed to see himself as a premium, high-ticket coach. To do this, we paired identity-based habits with WIN. Each day, Dan asked himself, “What’s Important Now?” For him, the answer was clear: He needed to start acting like the successful coach he wanted to be.
So, Dan built a series of tiny habits around this identity. Every day, he’d spend five minutes visualizing himself as a high-end coach. He’d rehearse sales conversations where he confidently charged premium rates. And he’d practice refining his messaging to reflect this new identity.
These tiny habits, reinforced by WIN, led to massive growth. In less than a year, Dan went from struggling to thriving, attracting premium clients and running a six-figure business.
Key takeaway:Your habits need to align with your identity. Ask yourself, “Who do I need to become to achieve my business goals?” Then build tiny habits around that identity, always guided by WIN.
Donna, another one of my clients, was stuck in a cycle of perfectionism. She spent hours tweaking her website, second-guessing her marketing, and obsessing over details that didn’t move the needle. She was working hard, but her business wasn’t growing.
For Donna, we focused on breaking bad habits and using WIN to simplify. We identified her bad habit—overcomplicating tasks—and replaced it with a simple question: *What’s Important Now?*
Donna’s WIN was all about client outreach. Instead of spending hours perfecting her website, she built a tiny habit of sending out five messages to potential clients every day. She also set a timer for 30 minutes each morning to complete her most important tasks. Once the timer went off, she moved on to the next thing, no overthinking, no perfectionism.
This shift made all the difference. Within a few months, Donna had doubled her revenue and was working fewer hours. She learned that focusing on *What’s Important Now*—instead of getting caught in busy work—was the key to unlocking her business growth.
Key takeaway: Break bad habits by identifying what’s holding you back. Use WIN to focus on the high-leverage tasks that actually move your business forward. Keep it simple and take consistent action.
James Clear’s concept of the 1% rule—getting just 1% better every day—might sound small, but over time, it leads to extraordinary results. This rule is a game-changer when combined with WIN.
In my own business, I applied the 1% rule every day. I’d ask myself, “What’s the 1% improvement I can make today?” Whether it was tweaking a sales script, improving a lead-generation email, or adjusting my client onboarding process, these tiny changes compounded over time.
The 1% rule works because it’s manageable. You’re not trying to overhaul your entire business overnight. Instead, you’re making small, consistent improvements that add up to massive results.
For Drew, Dan, and Donna, the 1% rule was the difference between staying stuck and creating breakthrough success. Each day, they focused on getting just a little bit better in their most important area—whether it was client acquisition, refining their offer, or improving their messaging. Over time, these small improvements transformed their businesses.
Key takeaway: Focus on making small, 1% improvements each day, guided by WIN. Over time, these tiny wins will compound into massive gains in your business.
The path to growing a thriving $250K lifestyle coaching business doesn’t require big, dramatic changes. It’s about mastering tiny, consistent habits and focusing on *What’s Important Now*—the one thing that will have the biggest impact on your business today.
