Let me take you back to when I first started as a coach. Like many of you, I was passionate about helping people, and one-on-one coaching felt like the best way to make a real difference. I was deeply invested in every client, working with them week after week, watching their progress unfold. But there was a downside: the hours. I was spending countless hours working with each client individually, and after a few years, I realized something—no matter how many clients I booked, my income was capped. There are only so many hours in the day, and that meant I was limited by time.

For a while, I thought working harder was the solution. So, I packed my calendar, squeezing in as many clients as possible, often working late into the night. And it was exhausting. But the worst part? I was sacrificing my freedom—the very thing I’d started this business to achieve. I wasn’t traveling as much, I wasn’t spending as much time with my wife, and skiing—one of my greatest passions—became something I only did in between client sessions. My business was running me, not the other way around.

Then, in 2008, everything changed. The recession hit, and almost overnight, my fully booked calendar went blank. I went from having a thriving seven-figure business to wondering how I was going to pay the bills. It was a terrifying time. I remember the sleepless nights, the anxiety, and the realization that I had built a business that was completely dependent on me showing up every single day. When the economy crashed, so did my income.

That was my turning point. I knew that if I didn’t make some big changes, I would always be stuck trading time for money. I needed to build a business that wasn’t dependent on me being there all the time, and that’s when I decided to shift from one-on-one coaching to a **scalable model**. I studied the top entrepreneurs who had figured this out, and I started designing a system that would allow me to serve more clients, make a bigger impact, and finally reclaim my freedom.
