So let’s dive in.

Welcome to the Lifestyle Business Quest Podcast! I'm Travis Greenlee, your host and I’m so glad you’re joining me for this episode because today, we’re going deeper into one of the most powerful, yet often overlooked, forces that can transform your business: an abundant mindset.

If you’re like most coaches, you’ve probably felt the pressure of chasing clients, managing the day-to-day grind, and wondering if it’s possible to scale your business without burning out. Maybe you’ve tried different strategies, invested in programs, or even worked longer hours, only to find yourself stuck at the same income level or feeling like you can’t get ahead.

Here’s the truth: the strategies and tactics are important, but none of that works if you’re operating from a scarcity mindset—one that’s constantly telling you there’s never enough. Not enough clients, not enough time, not enough success for you. It’s like trying to drive a car with the brakes on.

But when you shift to an abundant mindset, everything changes. Abundance isn’t just thinking positive thoughts—it’s about deeply believing that there’s more than enough for everyone, that success is inevitable, and that you can create a business that not only sustains you financially but gives you the freedom and impact you desire.

Today, I’ll share my personal story of moving from scarcity to abundance, dive into client stories that will resonate deeply with you, and pull insights from some of the greatest thinkers on abundance. Most importantly, we’ll wrap up with three powerful steps you can take today to create an abundant mindset in your business and life.

Let’s go back to 2008—one of the most challenging years of my life. I had built what I thought was the perfect coaching business. My calendar was booked months in advance, I had a waiting list of clients, and I was living my dream lifestyle. I’d built my business in a way that allowed me to ski 100+ days a year, travel with my wife, and enjoy the kind of freedom I’d always dreamed of.

Then, the recession hit, and I watched it all fall apart. Almost overnight, my client list dried up, my income tanked, and the lifestyle I had built was slipping through my fingers. I remember sitting in my office, staring at my empty calendar, and feeling completely overwhelmed by fear. How could this happen? I had done everything “right,” yet here I was, watching everything I’d worked for collapse.

In that moment, I realized that the problem wasn’t just the economy. It wasn’t the external factors that were causing me to spiral. It was my mindset. I had been living in scarcity without even realizing it—constantly chasing the next client, constantly worrying that success could be taken away at any moment. That scarcity mindset was what really brought my business down, not the recession.

I hit a turning point when I made the conscious decision to shift my focus. Instead of focusing on what I was losing, I started to focus on what was still possible. I asked myself, "What if there’s more than enough business out there for me? What if I could rebuild, but this time, even better?"

That decision to step into abundance—to trust that there were still opportunities, clients, and success waiting for me—was the game changer. It wasn’t just a surface-level positive attitude shift. It was a deep, internal shift in how I approached my business and life. I started building systems that allowed me to scale my business without working harder, and I created offers that aligned with my values. Within a few months, I had not only rebuilt my business, but I had created even more freedom than I had before. And it all started with a shift in mindset.

Now, let’s go deeper into the stories of some of the amazing clients I’ve worked with who, like me, were stuck in scarcity. These stories show the power of mindset not only in changing a business but in transforming a life.

Stacy came to me after years of feeling stuck. She had been hustling, chasing clients, and constantly living in fear that there just wasn’t enough business to go around. She said, “Travis, I feel like I’m always behind. I see other coaches succeeding, but I’m fighting for scraps. There’s just not enough out there for me.”

Stacy’s scarcity mindset was so deeply ingrained that she couldn’t see the opportunities around her. She believed there was only a limited amount of success, and that she wasn’t one of the chosen few who could access it. But here’s the truth: abundance is available to everyone. Once Stacy started shifting her mindset, things began to change.

We worked together to reframe her thinking. Instead of believing she had to fight for every client, Stacy started to see that clients were looking for her. She realized that her unique message and approach were exactly what her ideal clients needed. Once she started showing up from a place of confidence and abundance, clients started coming to her. Stacy launched a group coaching program and, within months, was fully booked out with a waitlist. More importantly, she stopped feeling like she was chasing. She stepped into abundance, and the opportunities followed.

Lori’s Breakthrough: Lori was a powerhouse coach, but she was completely burned out. She was working 60-hour weeks, feeling like she had to trade her time for money. Her biggest limiting belief? There wasn’t enough time. Lori believed that if she wasn’t constantly working, she would lose everything. She told me, “I feel like I’m running out of time, and if I don’t keep hustling, my business will fall apart.”

Lori’s scarcity mindset around time was driving her straight into exhaustion. She believed that success had to come at the cost of her health and happiness. But here’s what we uncovered: Time isn’t the problem. It’s how we use time that determines our success.

We worked together to shift Lori’s mindset from scarcity to abundance. Instead of believing that she had to keep grinding, Lori learned to leverage her time. She created a hybrid coaching program that allowed her to serve more clients in less time. Within a few months, Lori had cut her work hours in half and doubled her revenue. She stopped living in fear of time and started embracing the idea that she had all the time she needed to create success.

- Sharon’s Transformation: Sharon was a seasoned coach who had hit a plateau. She had been making the same income for years and couldn’t seem to break through to the next level. Sharon believed that making more money meant sacrificing her personal life—something she wasn’t willing to do. Her scarcity mindset was wrapped around money. She told herself that if she wanted to earn more, she’d have to give up her freedom, her time, and her energy.

But here’s the truth about abundance: It’s not about working harder or sacrificing more. It’s about aligning with the opportunities that are already there. Once Sharon embraced the idea that she could have both financial success and personal freedom, everything changed. She raised her prices, launched a premium coaching offer, and started attracting high-ticket clients who valued her expertise. Today, Sharon is earning more while working less, and she’s living the life of freedom she always dreamed of. The only thing that changed was her mindset.

The concept of abundance isn’t just something I talk about—it’s been studied and written about by some of the greatest thought leaders in the world. Let’s dive even deeper into what they have to say about abundance.

Stephen Covey, author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, teaches us that the abundance mindset is the key to long-lasting success. Covey says that people with a scarcity mindset see life as a zero-sum game—where if someone else wins, they lose. But those with an abundant mindset believe that there is more than enough to go around. Covey’s wisdom shows us that abundance allows us to collaborate, innovate, and grow, while scarcity keeps us small, fearful, and trapped in competition.

Wayne Dyer, a pioneer in the personal development world, often said, “Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.” This is a profound idea. Dyer reminds us that abundance isn’t about getting more—it’s about realizing that what you need is already available. When you tune into abundance, you start to see opportunities, resources, and connections that were invisible to you before.

Jen Sincero, author of You Are a Badass, teaches that scarcity is rooted in fear—fear of not being enough, fear of not having enough, fear of failure. Sincero encourages us to act “as if”—to behave like the person we want to become, right now. This mindset shift is powerful. When you start showing up as if you’ve already achieved success, you naturally attract the clients, opportunities, and results that match that energy. Acting from abundance creates abundance.

Now that we’ve gone deep into what abundance really means, I want to give you three powerful, actionable steps you can start using today to create an abundant mindset in your life and business.

1. Rewrite Your Money Story. Most of us are carrying around unconscious stories about money that we’ve inherited from our upbringing, society, or past experiences. Maybe you’ve been taught that money is hard to come by, or that you have to work long hours to earn a good living. I want you to challenge that. Take a moment to write down your current beliefs about money. Where did those beliefs come from? Are they serving you, or holding you back? Then, consciously rewrite your story. Choose to believe that money flows easily to you, that wealth is abundant, and that success doesn’t require sacrifice. This is a crucial shift that will open you up to receiving more financial abundance in your business.

2. Expand Your Vision Beyond What Feels "Safe". Most of us limit our vision because we’re afraid to think too big. We play it safe because deep down, we don’t believe we’re worthy of more. I want to challenge you to expand your vision. What would your business look like if you tripled your impact? What if you could serve hundreds, even thousands, of clients without working more hours? Take time to visualize this expanded reality in detail. See it. Feel it. The clearer your vision, the more your brain will start to find ways to make it happen. Expanding your vision is the first step toward creating it.

3. Act As If You’re Already There. One of the most powerful ways to create abundance is to act as if you’ve already achieved the success you desire. If you were already running a $250K+ coaching business, how would you show up each day? How would you interact with clients? How would you set your boundaries around your time? Start embodying that version of yourself today. When you act from a place of abundance, you start to attract the people, opportunities, and results that match that energy. Acting as if shifts you into a state of flow, where success becomes inevitable.

Today, we’ve taken a deep dive into the power of an abundant mindset and how it can transform not only your business but your life. Whether you resonated with Stacy’s, Lori’s, or Sharon’s stories, remember that abundance is available to you. It’s not about hustling harder or sacrificing more—it’s about shifting the way you think about what’s possible. When you change your mindset from scarcity to abundance, you attract more clients, create more freedom, and live a life that’s fully aligned with your values and goals.
